Developing telecommunications management solutions is becoming increasingly complex. The industry has used OSI based TMN solution which have been successful but have their difficulties The steep learning curve and dearth of skilled develoeprs means increased cost in developing solutions. In the IT industry Distributed Object Computing, in particular OMG CORBA, is gainign widespread popularity as a means of integrating many disparate systems into an integrated component based solution. It offers a simpler, more intutitive design and development path, platforms are elss expensive, and develoeprs more abundant. In this paper we share our experiences in developing a CORBA based manager for a TMN based Trouble Ticketing agnet. The development is driven by the manager requirements capture through Use Case analysis followed by Object Modelling and Java implementtation. We document the steps invoved, explain our methodology, and explain the advantages of using such an approach.
