摘要

It has been shown that it is possible to attain conditions, under which there is actually no mass exchange between the electrodes in thin-layer molten electrolyte electrolysis. One of the necessary conditions for the manifestation of this effect is the involvement in electrode processes of metals that can form compounds of various oxidation states by discharge-ionization. Bismuth possesses such properties. An interpretation of the revealed effect is proposed. The detected phenomenon creates unique scopes for refining of bismuth in molten electrolytes.
