An integrated engineering and cost model hasbeen developed as a part of an overall research project forexploring the technical, environmental and economic feasibilityof disposing coal combustion byproducts and flue gasdesulturisation products in underground coal mines in Illinois.The features of the model have been keyed in user-friendlysoftware. In this paper, the purpose and the structure of themodel are described. The capabilities of the software areillustrated through an example involving transportation ofbyproducts in containers from a power plant to a mine site, andsubsequent placement of the byproducts in an abandonedunderground coal mine using a hydraulic injection system.
