Ecological impact produced by hard coal mining in Petrosani coal basin and pollution reduction at Jiu River

Economical development of the coal basinPetrosani based on exploitation and processing of hard coal unitnow a dynamic character without taking into account theenvironmental aspects. The major environmental probleminduced, consists in the pollution of Jiu river as a consequenceof the effluent ejected in his waters.The present paper highlights some aspects of environmentalimpact induced by hard coal mining in coal basin Petrosani.
