Treatment of Common-Cause Failures in Event Assessment

This paper presents the basics for treating common-cause failures in event assessments and other studies that require the calculation of conditional failure probabilities. The process depends on the number of components in hte common-cause component group, the success criterion, and the complexity of the event, and the status of the components that are unavailable because of the event.
