Since the early 1970s, human reliability analysis (HRA) has been considered an integral part of probabilistic risk assessments (PRAs). Although various approaches and methods have been used since the first HRA was performed two decade age as part of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) sponsored Reactor Safety Study (WASH-1400) [1], the technology associated with HRA is still developing. The need for better integration of HRA into the PRA process, as well as other limitations, was recognized during the review of the NRC's NUREG-1150 severe accident risk PRAs [2].
