Experimental and theoritical investigation of the all-optical noise reduction capabilities of interferometric wavelength converters

Experimentally and theoretically we demonstrate a 5 dB noise suppression capability of IWCs. Furthermore, we show that the number of concatenated EDFAs can be increased by more than a factor of 10 if IWCs are used after every 10'th EDFA thus emphasising the regenerative capabilities of IWCs.
