In this presentation, the co-operation mechanism of the European R&D programmesi s described Practical experience of an industrial participant is analysed in the light of a number of case projects. the success factors and typical problems are discussed. According to the experience, well planned and organised co-operative programmes can provide a valuable platform for the companies and R&D establishments to seek co-operation for their mutual interest. Handling of intellectual property rights in the co-operation projects is a critical issue reserving a lot of atention.
