Atmospheric wet deposition have been investigated considering a scavenging numerical simulation and rainwater analysis, at the Serra do Mar ecosystem, South-eastern Brazil, within a bilateral German-Brazilian Project, named "Air Pollution and Vegetation Damage in the Tropices-Serra do Mar as an example". The Serra do Mar ecosystem has been damaging under the pollution impact of a huge industrial complex installed close of the rain forest at the mountain ridge. A one-dimensional wet removal model has been coupled with a chemical analysis, consisting of hte variaiblity prediction of three chemical species found in rainwater, as such sulphate, nitrate and ammonia, the main water pollutants in the study area. We also examine the rainwater concentrations' variability of other species, all of them collected by fractionated rain samplers. The resutls show a reasonable agreement between both modelled and observed datasets validating the scavenging model and, together to the chemical analysis, also identifying the washout contributions to the transference from atmosphere to the hydrosphere by the wet removal processes on that ecosystem.
