Polycarbonate (PC) has good performances in impact-resistant and dimension stability. PC is used in materials as the optical memory disk, exterior components of laptop computer, head lamp lenses of car, and the helmet, etc. in wilder area of industry. Especially glass fiber reinforced polycarbonate and carbon fiber reinforced polycarbonate are better than general ones in mechanical property. It is possible to produce product more precise product than die-casting alloy. On the other hand, lifetime of injection mold components shorten because of hard carbon fibers attack injection mold surfaces, when reinforced polycarbonates inject into an injection mold. J.Bergstrom's group investigated the wear mechanism of injection mold. They experimented with wear tests that the reinforced PC, containing grass fibers was flowed into the injection mold [1]. In this study we solved damage mechanisms what polymer flowed into injection mold surfaces. We carried out basic wear experiment between carbon fiber reinforced polycarbonate and the die material with hard surface coatings. We would contribute to extend lifetime of injection mold components.
