Prepared discussion of: Impact of Deregulation and Competition on Base Loaded Power Plant Water Treatment Systems

A paradigm shift must occur in the thinking of a plant's management and operating personnel if a newly deregulated plant is to remain competitive in the market. Power generators must be prepared to deliver their kilowatts to the grid as promised, when promised. Failing to address water chemistry issues will ultimately impact a plant's ability to meet these power delivery commitments. Acceptance of operating above or outside of the action limits is not realistic. Action limits were established to protect plant equipment from deposition and corrosion in the first place. Operating otherwise will ultimately lead to serious problems and equipment failures.
