GPS for air power

摘要

In this paper we illustrate how GPS can contribute to the Air Force's competencies: Air a nd Space Superiority; Global Attack; Rapid Global Mobility; Precision Engagement; Information Superiority; and, Agile Combat Generation. We describe some on-going Air Force and Joint Services activities aimed at exploting GPS for both military and humaitarian missions as well as conforming to a DOD-DOT/ICAO global air traffic management system. Finally, we discuss the implications for the Air Force of sovereign and regional navigation systems, the civillian future air navigation systems, WAAS, and GLONASS.
