Feature of the Geoscientific Environment in the Area of Poyang Lake and the Strategy of its Development and control

摘要

Poyang lake is the largest Freshwater lake in China, its catchement area equals approximately to the administration area of Jiangxi province. One of the features of geoscientific environment in the area is the large annual variation of the water level. Another is large amount of sand and silt,and the high tractive - suspended ratio in the upper and middle reaches. Because the material flow and the energy flow consisted mainly of water and silt, it has linked the mountain - river - lake (M. R. L.) into an intergrated ecological system. Therefore, a strategical program has been laid, that is "to manage the lake.the river must be managed;to manage the river, the mountain must be managed". The international society shows a great interesting and concern for the M. R. L. project. The world's hope could be perceived from the M. R. L. project; and Jiangxi has been stepping into the world from the M. R. L. project.
