The fractures play important roles for the transport of liquid and vapour. Many fractures have taken place in the Green Tuff region along the Japan Sea side of the Japanese islands since early Miocene, where many Quaternary volcanoes are distributed(Fig.l). The geothermal energy is stored in the deep formations in the Green Tuff region, which has been explored for the power station. As the structure in the deeper parts is much different from that in the shallower ones showing relatively gentle structure, the conventional method of extrapolating the shallow geologic structure to the deep ones is not applicable. In order to investigate the deep structures, we tried to apply the Virtual Basement Displacement method (Kodama et al.,1985) to the problem.
