Composite HDF~TM, A New Natural Fiber Based Composite material For Engineering Applications

A natural fiber based composite material known as Composite HDF~TM has been developed for engineering applications and it has been used to produce net shape components as an economical replacement for components made from plastics, woods and metals. The material is made from abundant and environmentlly friendly natural fibers. It is models in precision, high tolerance tooling using a process specifically developed for molding this unique material. Mold surfaces can be textured and polished to achieve a variety of component surfaces. Material properties including mechanical, thermal, environmental, cloring and decorative can be varied. Several applications will be discussed to demonstrate the unique characteristics of this material and process.
