The aim at reduction of cost during undergroundbard coal mining raises the total height of coal seams mined infull thickness with caving. In the Czech Republic, suchtechnology has been applied m coal seams having a thickness ofup to 6 m. The efficiency of this mining technology isdetermined by the reliability of the whole system of preparationand mining and also of the used technical equipmentIn drivage and mining conditions endangered by coal massselfcombustion and rockbursts, the extraordinary attentionshould be payed to prevention of these phenomenons. Thesame facts play an important role in ease dealing with theimprovement of the roadways stability, mainly around ofstarting break-throughs having a great width.
