From beneficiation tests to industrial production: valuation of the Itakpe iron ore deposit for the benefit of the developing Nigerian industry

The TAKPE MINING PROJECT has beendeveloped for the purpose of supplying the Nigerian Steelindustry with a sinter-feed type concentrate and a pellet-feedtype uperconcentrate. From the beginning, the project has beendeveloped in conjunction between engineers of the NigerianProject Company and European specialists. The nominalcapacity is 2.2 million tpy of concentrate (63-65 percent Fecontent) produced by crushing, semi-autogenous milling, andconcentration mainly carried out stages of spirals. Thesuperconcentrate (68 percent Fe content) will be produced byregrinding of the concentrate and flotation to remove free silica.
