Results of the investigation of photoluminence and Raman scattering in undoped γ-La_2S_3 single crystals, as well as the kinetics of Nd ion ~4F_(3/2) level decay in these crystals are given. The distortion of Nd ion ~4F_(3/2) level decay curve under light excitation of wavelength γ-0.53 μm has been explained.
