Dedicated tests with DC plsam torches using both consumable and nonconsumable anods have been conducted at the Atomic energy Corporation (AEC) since 1991. Advantages of this system are: (a) less effluent is generated than in freon based PTFE plants and (b) the plsam system can be controlled to produce various different kW to 30 kW proved the principel fo tetrafluorethylene (TFE) production.
