Geochemistry of selected samples of Peats from Paul da Goucha (Alpiarca, Portugal)

Analysis to determine physical, chemical, petrographical and organic matter content were performed on 40 samples from "clay levels with fossil plants" of Paul da Goucha (Alpiarca, Santarem). These clays are grey, organic-rich, and water-logged, and have been previously recognised as peat deposits. The main purpose of this determination was the characterization of the samples to agriculture uses.
