摘要

The quantification of the strength of cast steel isoften difficult because of unavoidable inhomogenities rangingfrom pores or spongy structure up to crack-like defects. To geta lower limit of the strength, the defects which would becovered by the German guidelines ~r cast steel components onnon-destructive testing were interpreted as cracks and assessedby the CEOB R6-Procedure of fracture mechanics. The resultsshow that the toughness of the material considered is sufficientto reach the yield stress and even higher levels near the ultimate stress.
