摘要

This paper describes the process and the results of the evaluation of Traffic Congestion manager (TCM), a knowledge-based system for Traffic Management Center operator assistance in real-time congestion management. The process of evaluation included the validation of the correctness of the underlying knowledge base and the assessment of the s ystem's demonstrate the ability of the system to effectively reduce driver travel time and stop time in the network under congested conditions, through the implementation of rela-traveler information and signal control. The results also provide insights into some of the weaknesses of the TCM approach, that will be addressed to fine-tune its reasoning capabilities and improve its performance.
