THE CONNECTION BETWEEN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE INFLORESCENCE AND ITS POLLINATION AND FRUIT SET IN PEARS

We examined the construction of the inflorescence of 77 pear cultivars between 1984 and 1991, in relation to bloom, pollination and fruit set. The centripetal succession order of bloom in the inflorescences is characteristic of 59 percent of the cultivars. In one-fourth of the cultivars a centrifugal order was found. Divergent forms are also frequent and formed the remaining proportion.
