摘要

Two different powder processing methods.namely hydrolysis of alkoxides and gel coating TiO_2 particles.were used to prepare aluminium titanate-25vol% mullitecomposite powders. The results showed that a synchronousformation of A1_2TiO_5 and mullite occurred at ~1350degC inthe precursor prepared by hydrolysis due to the retardedformation of rutile and #alpha#-Al_2O_3 phases. An uniformmicrostructure was obtained by sintering the alkoxide derived powders.
