We present two Helmholtz coil systems for the examination of SQUID sensor heads regarding their magnetic properties. One system consists of four coils with the same field orientation and achieves a very good homogeneity. The second system is composed of three Helmholtz coils, which are arranged orthogonally. This setup is mainly used for the measurement of the magnetic axes' orientation of magnetometers. It allows to rotate dc and ac vectors in any direction independently and is also able to compensate the earth's magnetic field.
