Hall probe measurements and analysis of the magnetic field above a multifilamentary superconducting tape

When characterising superconducting tapes it is useful to know the current flow inside a sample since its magnitude and any local variations are a good indicator of the uniformity and quality of a tape. Hall probe measurements are of use for this since they are non-intrusive and the sample preparation for measurements is relatively simple. Here we present preliminary results of Hall probe measurements made above a sample of multifilamentary superconducting tape. These measurements have a high spatial resolution as a result of a small Hall probe size. Also, all three components of the magnetic field can be measured not just the vertical component as is usual. Several methods exist for the back calculation of two-dimensional currents from magnetic fields, we compare three such methods.
