Wavelet-compressed image retrieval using successive approximation quantization (SAQ) features

摘要

An integrated wavelet-based image storage and indexing system is proposed in this research. Indexing features of consideration contains the color, brightness, texture, and spatial information of images. These features can be naturally extracted during the successive approximation quantization (SAQ) stage of the wavelet compression process. Extensive experimental results are performed to demonstrate the retrieval performance of the new approach.
