The satellite broadcasting and communication have been used in Japan since 1984. It is easily expected that the spilt power reaches to the wide surrounding Japanese waters, though it is focused on Japanese Islands. On the other hand, the development of electronics has made the earth stations smaller in dimension and less in cost. Thus it can be used as a convenient medium of information to be transferred to domestic vessels.
