Boron carbide-titanium diboride compositescontaining graphite have been prepared by in situ reaction of Tiand B_4C in the hot-press. Infiltration of initially sphericaltitanium particles into the B_4C matrix upon melting resulted information of TiB_2 regions in the shape of hollow ellipsoidswhen the Ti particle size was much greater than the B_4Cparticle size. It was shown that these hollow ellipsoids could bebroken by the uniaxial pressure to yield a composite with amodified microstructure.
