SECOND DEVELOPMENT OF SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENTAL SATELLITE IMAGE AND ITS APPLICATION

The scientific experimental satellite (SES) image was photographed by the satellite which is designed and launched by China. Since the image has advantages in high accuracy, high resolution and high clearness, it has been widely applied to many science fields and good results have been achieved. However, as the information provided by SES is in film or photo format, rather than in digital format as MSS and TM, its application is limited. In order to further enlarge the application of the SES image, the second development has been studied. Having transformed the SES image into digital record format, we not only can effectively enhance and extract all sorts of useful information, but also transform the original black-white image into colour image with using computer image processing system. Furthermore, we can integrate the SES image with Landsat data and other geological data to promote the SES image and employ rotation method to correct the image orientation. However, none of these can be obtained by using the original SES black-white image. Utilizing these processed images, we have successfully interpreted and discerned the image features which are related to the in-situ leaching (ISL) sandstone uranium deposit in the Yili basin and good results have been achieved.
