摘要

IC (internal combustion) engine misfire refers to the lack of power phenomenon in the working process, which is caused by unburning or substandard in-cylinder pressure in one or more cylinders. This study presents a reliable misfire detection procedure by analyzing the crankshaft's speed variation in frequency domain and using artificial neural network for pattern recognition. The experiments that contain different cylinder misfire are conducted in a six in-line diesel engine. The experimental data covers some representative operating modes at different rotating speed and different load of the diesel engine. Finally, the diagnostic method achieved satisfactory results. The current study provides a novel way to detect the occurrence of misfire of IC engines.
