THE ITALIAN MARKET SURVEILLANCE OF OUTDOOR MACHINERY UNDER DIRECTIVE 2000/14/EC

The Italian National Institute for Environmental Protection and Research is responsible for market surveillance on equipment for use outdoors, pursuant to art. 5 of Directive 2000/14/EC on behalf of the Italian Ministry of the Environment. This paper deals with the Legislative Decree. n. 262/2002 transposing the mentioned Directive in Italy and the Ministerial Decree 04/10/2011 specifically issued for the definition of the criteria to be applied for the technical compliance assessment of equipment for use outdoors. It has been also illustrated how ISPRA carries out both documentary and technical inspections, including the use of MARA and ICSMS databases. Furthermore, the results obtained after more than seven years of surveillance activity have been reported and the ones which are expected especially through the role of Noise ADCO Chairmanship covered by ISPRA for the years 2013, 2014 and 2015.
