On the development and use of road traffic noise barriers (RTNB) technology and the acoustical design and physical construction of them in China, this paper reviews the structure engineering of their design, construction, and implementation in China, such as acoustical and structure design, the general body design, enclosures and semi-enclosures, transparent walls (so people can see scenery), the application and development of isolative & absorptive materials and their configurations, etc. The state-of-the art of RTNBs in China does not always employ all facts of the available technology, the guidelines and experiences for the structure selection, design, and installation of them are discussed.
