In this work a test apparatus for measuring airflow resistance is developed. The details of the apparatus and measurement of flow resistance are described. The device is used to investigate the linear and nonlinear sound absorption characteristics of several types of porous metals such as sintered fibrous stainless steels and porous copper manufactured by the lost carbonate sintering (LCS) process. Both the static and dynamic airflow resistance properties for abovementioned porous metals are measured. The involved data and varying curves are presented and analyzed further in this study. Finally, according to those measured results, the relationships between porous samples' airflow resistivity and transition airflow velocity are briefly discussed.
