This paper describes the case study about the elimination of the acoustic resonance in piping system at Thermal Power Plant. When the high pressure pump of large capacity is tested after construction, the high vibration was occured in the piping system of the pump. The vibration frequency measured in piping system was 451 Hz, the pump vane passing frequency. As the result of the test and numerical analysis about the piping system, the root cause of high vibration was acoustic resonance. For avoiding the acoustic resonance the position of control valve in the piping system was changed. As the result the high vibration was largely decreased to a scale of 1/3.
