TARGETED ROAD SAFETY PROGRAMMES: A PROMISING APPROACH IN ROAD SAFETY

In sports, in economics, in politics it is common practice to analyze, to understand, to find underlying forces, to learn from the past, etc. And to set targets. It seems to be recommended to follow this rational approach in road safety policy as well. This might lead to safety-consciousness and more motivation and dedication of those who are designing and operating our road transport system using scientific knowledge as much as possible. Road safety targets and targeted road safety programmes will be helpful in this approach.
