The project involves the development and industrial operation of a versatile, stationary automatic foam spraying device, "SAMIDIN", for chemical decontamination of pipes measuring 0.5 to 1.6 m in diameter and 2 to 3.5 m long. Decontamination is obtained by successive automatic spraying cycles with alkaline and acid foams, and by high pressure water rinsing. Industrial utilization of a device of this type for decommissioning purposes would limit the occupational exposure hazard inside or in contact with contaminated pipes while minimizing the quantity of liquid wastes produced.
