DAB: THE RESULTS OF EXPERIMENTS IN THE UK

Over the past few years, the Eureka 147 Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) system, has developed from an engineering concept to a complete system [1], It offers the public a new radio service with good reception even on portable and mobile receivers. It provides a rugged digital broadcast system. This paper describes the experimental work to prove the concept and to understand the details of the propagation and planning aspects of the system, so that broadcast networks could be implemented.
