Decaying States of Layered Plates and the Asymptotically Correct Boundary Conditions

The equlibrium equation of the classical plate theory provides interior solution for a problem involving small thickness parameter. However, to complete the plate theory, correct boundary conditions consistent with the equilibrium equations should be applied. It is known that the displacement-prescribed boundary conditions of the classical plate theory is not asymptotically correct. Since decaying state method does not need edge layer analysis, this method is desirable to obtain asymptotically correct boundary conditions without complications. In the present study, decaying state method is applied to obtain the asymptotically correct boundary conditions for layered plate in the plane strain state. Here, two different mixed boundary conditions are introduced. These boundary conditions are quite different from those of the classical plate theory. One should find the boundary conditions presented in this paper facilitate the solutions of the layered plate problems.
