The castable met all of the requirements set forth by Armco for successful performance as a material to protect the buckstay/armor/jamb system from the heat of the end flue. 1. Follow up inspections of ovens completed to date (September 1991-November 1992) show no castable failures. These visual observations combined with lower jamb temperatures and less jamb warpage indicate that the crushing strength of the castable is not being exceeded by the reaction forces from the tie rods and buckstay/armor/jamb system.
