Five years of operating experience with ozone disinfection of a groundwater supply

The Sturgen Bay Utilities operates three ozone treatment systems for the disinfection of its groundwater supply at Unit Wells #6, #8, and #10. The Well#10 system has been in operation since 1987, Well #8 went into operation in 1991, while the Well #6 system becuame operational in 1992. All of the ozonation systems utilize a turbine diffuser to introduce ozone to the water supply. The negative pressure ozonation systems utilize the turbine diffusers to draw outside air through silical gel driers and the ozone generators. While each of the ozone systems are basically equal in design concept, there are unique variations between the systems, each of which improve on the design features of the earlier designs.
