Factors include the spectral response of the color filters in the scanner, the color space chosen for digital encoding, image processing operations including corrections to tone curve, hue, and colorfulness, printer/press characteristics, and the color gamut of the printing inks. The criteria for fidelity of color reproduction depend on the objectives of the reproduction and the method of visual assessment.
