Cyanides are the traditional and most effective supressors of sphalerite and pyrite using for a long time in selective flotation processes in Russia and abroad. In the last decades high toxic flotoreagents are being used less common due to the strong environmental safety requirements. On the most concentrating mills of Russia technologies are being developei using sulphur-containing modificators as sulphide mineral supressors excluding quietly cyanides and their salts from technological processes.
