Investigation of an FEL generator with a backward guide field of $MIN@1.9 kG and a helical pump field of 1.3 kG is presented. The operating wavelength is 8 mm, and the FEL efficiency is about 5 percent. The particle motion in such fields is considered both analytically and numerically, taking into account the off-axis injection of the electron beam into the solenoid (experimentally produced) and the realizable helical field slowly increasing.
