A particle size, concentration and velocity measurement system has been established to make in situ measurements of a 42 mm ID horizontal air-particle free jet. The principle of particle sizing and mean velocity evaluation, which is based on Mie scattering theory and transit timing techniques is presented. The description of signal sampling and processing is also given. Some experimental results obtained from a series of experiments using the powder of oxide alumina in range of 10 to 105 microns are shown and discussed.
