Comparative measurements of heat fluxes in power boiler furnaces are conducted using two probes, one of them suffers effects of thermal radiation and convection, the other registers thermal radiations alone. The heat transfer convection component for the waterwall tubes is singled out. In defiance of the current concepts, this components proved to be rather substantial, especially within region of burner's location. Burning of high-ash content coals in the furnaces is notable for a presence of Low-temperature zones near the wall's. Total heat transfer effectiveness in the furnaces operating on such coals will increase noticably provided mass transfer in the furnace is intensified.
