The present paper proposes a methodology based on graph theory to identity the key buses in the power system network for voltage scheduling. The generating stations and the transmission/distribution substations are modeled as nodes. The transmission lines that carry power between buses (nodes) are edges (elements) between corresponding nodes. The selection of key buses is based on the connectivity of those buses with other buses. Impacts of voltage level at the key buses are then studied on the maximum loading level of the buses far from the generating stations. A simple 6 bus system [G.T. Heydt, 1996] is considered to demonstrate the methodology. The IEEE 30 bus system is considered to display the results.
