Coherent optical fiber transmission systems are advantageous in that they improve the regenerative spacing as well as the transmission data rate over conventional .IMDD systems. In these systems, an optical amplifier can be used as a post amplifier or as an on-line-amplifier.Injection-locked type optical amplifiers that amplify only a constant-@@envelope angle-modulation signal are potentially good post-amplifiers, since they emit an output power larger than that of linear amplifiers. In recent years, attention has been paid to the injection locking technique for semiconductor lasers [1]-[3].
