A finite-element solution for an unbounded region is used to solve vector field problems in a three-dimensional space. The unbounded region is divided into two parts, a local dielectric space and free space. The electromagnetic field equations are solved directly by a weighted residual technique using finite elements, with integral equations as the constraints of the differential equations. The numerical results of the internal field distribution are given to show the accuracy in comparison with other calculations.
