Analysis and test data are presented for a four-port traveling wave nonlinear amplifier that is simultaneously used as a three-port mixer and as an amplifier for either the signal or local oscillator input. The three-port mixer is unique in itself as the signal and local oscillator are fed to different ports instead of having to be combined and fed to one input port. Concurrent operation as an amplifier with a transmission feedback path enables the four-port device to be used as a self-oscillating mixer.
